Cedar Crest Governor's Residence
The Kansas Governor's Residence is the smallest occupied governor's residence in the United States; however it sits on the largest piece of property at 244 acres. Frank P. MacLennan, publisher of the Topeka State Journal, and his wife Madge bequathed their home and land to the State of Kansas. It was updated and remodeled in 2000. Public tours are offered every Monday afternoon, with the exception of State holidays, between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tours start every half hour and last approximately 30 minutes. Reservations are not necessary unless there are more than five in the group. Larger groups are encouraged to write or call to reserve a specific time. There are no charges for the tour. Private tours for groups of ten or more are offered Monday and Tuesday mornings from 10:00 am until noon and Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 pm until 3:30 pm. To schedule a private tour, please send a letter at least one week ahead of the requested time to the Cedar Crest Tour Director. The public is welcome to use the trails. Cedar Crest |
