Old Prairie Town at Ward Meade Historic Site

Enjoy five and one-half acres of living history, including a restored 1870 Victorian Mansion, wood cabin, train depot, one-room schoolhouse, stone barn, gift shop, general store, church, and the two-and-one-half acre botanical gardens. Tour the Potwin Drug Store, a two-story replicated turn-of-the century drug store complete with a working soda fountain. The second floor replicates an authentic physician's and dentist's office. Old Prairie Town is located on land Anthony and Mary Jane Ward purchased from a Potawatomi Indian in 1854 for $100. Grounds open daily 8 A.M. - dusk.

Guided tours (no reservations): March through October--Monday through Friday at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at noon or 2 p.m.  November through February, Monday through Friday at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. Weekends by reservation only.  Large group tours (15 or more) by reservation only.

The Mulvane General Store and Potwin Drug Store are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 until 4 p.m.
