Taking care of our young people is a top priority. Many of our corporations have corporate day cares, and there are myriad day care centers both privately owned and church sponsored. For those who prefer day care in the home, there are many home day care choices available. Contact ERC Resource and Referral for details on day care centers. Libraries
As the State Capital and home to a four-year university, the Topeka/Shawnee County area is fortunate to have many libraries for students, researchers, and those who read for pleasure. Libraries include:

Recycling
Shawnee County sponsors many recycling centers throughout the community. For a listing of those sites, please call: 785-233-6147. The Recycling Hotline number is 785-291-4940. In addition to regular collection locations, the County also sponsors a Hazardous Waste Collection at 131 NE 46th Street on the first Saturday of each month except January and July.
